Privacy Policy
Mert App operates AI Speak French: Practice Me. This policy describes the data processed by the app and its service providers. You do not need an email account or a social login. Firebase creates a pseudonymous user identifier to secure your data; pseudonymous data is not the same as completely anonymous data.
Profile and learning records
Your profile includes an optional name, interface language, French level, learning goal, practice style and subscription status. Your learning progress and saved corrections may contain messages you entered, corrected sentences, explanations and timestamps. The app stores preferences, chat history and corrections on your device. Profile information and saved corrections are also synchronized to Google Firebase Firestore under your user identifier. The optional name is optional; avoid using identifying or sensitive information in names and practice messages.
Microphone and speech recognition
Microphone and speech recognition permissions are requested when you choose voice input. Your device's speech recognition service transcribes your speech. Depending on device support and system settings, this service may process audio on the device or online through the platform provider. We do not guarantee exclusively on-device recognition. The app does not create or retain audio recordings or send raw audio to our AI backend or Google Gemini. The recognized text can be sent to the AI service when you choose to send a message.
AI conversations and consent
Before sending a message to the AI service, the app asks for explicit consent. To produce French replies, corrections and translations, it sends your message, a limited recent conversation history, French level, learning goal and interface language to Google Gemini, operated by Google LLC. The app does not automatically include the optional profile name or an email address in this AI request. However, information you type or dictate within messages is part of their content and may include personal information. Do not enter sensitive or identifying details; use fictional details for roleplays.
App version 1.0.5 and later routes AI requests through our authenticated backend once that service is enabled. Earlier app versions may contact Gemini directly. Our AI backend does not persist or log the practice text or generated AI response. It stores a pseudonymous user identifier and request usage counters/timestamps to enforce message limits and prevent overlapping requests. Google processes the request under the terms and data-handling rules applicable to the Gemini API service. We do not promise that a provider has no retention or training use beyond those applicable terms.
Subscriptions
Apple App Store and RevenueCat process purchase history, transaction identifiers, subscription status and the pseudonymous user identifier to deliver and restore Premium access. Mert App does not receive your full card number or payment account credentials. Prices, billing periods and any eligible introductory offer are shown by the store. Deleting your app account does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription.
Analytics and diagnostics
Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics process usage events, installation/device identifiers, device information and crash diagnostics to measure app usage and resolve errors. Google Analytics may derive approximate country/city information from the connection IP address; the app does not request GPS location. Remote Config supplies app configuration. These records can be associated with a device or pseudonymous identifier; they should not be described as necessarily anonymous.
Retention and deletion
Local learning data remains on your device until you remove it through account deletion or erase the app's data. Synced profile/correction records and AI usage records are kept while the associated app account is active. You can request their deletion from Profile → Delete Account. The app removes its cloud learning data and AI usage record before deleting the Firebase account, then clears local app preferences and history. An internet connection is required to complete cloud deletion; a failure is reported so you can retry. Purchase and diagnostic records held by Apple, RevenueCat or Google may remain subject to their own retention and legal requirements. Manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple account settings separately.
Providers and processing locations
Providers include Apple, Google Firebase/Crashlytics and Gemini, and RevenueCat. The app's AI backend is configured in the Google Cloud europe-west1 region. Requests may also be processed in other locations by the relevant provider. See their policies and service terms:

Children and changes
The AI features are intended for adults aged 18 or older, in accordance with the Gemini API service terms. Do not use the AI features if you are under 18. We do not knowingly seek personal data about children. If you believe such data was submitted, contact us at hezarfentech@gmail.com. Material changes to AI data sharing require an updated disclosure and consent in the app. Other updates will be reflected in the date on this page.

Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion or a copy of your information, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent or contact your local data protection authority.
