Privacy Policy – AI Speak Spanish: Practice Me

This Privacy Policy explains what information the mobile application AI Speak Spanish: Practice Me (the "App") collects, how it is used and shared, and the choices you have. The App is developed and operated by Mert App ("we", "us", "our" or the "Developer").
By downloading, installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. No Account Required
You do not need to create an account, sign in, or give us your email address, phone number or physical address to use the App. When you first open the App, it creates an pseudonymous user identifier through Firebase Authentication. Your profile, saved corrections and subscription status are associated with this anonymous identifier, not with a verified identity. An anonymous sign-in does not mean all associated data is unidentifiable.
2. Information We Collect and How We Use It
A. Profile Information You Provide
During onboarding you may enter a display name (optional; if left empty, "User" is used), and choose your Spanish level, learning goal, practice style and app language.
- Purpose: To personalise the App (for example, greeting you by name) and to adapt the AI tutor to your level and goals.
- Storage: This information is stored on your device and in Google Firebase Cloud Firestore under your anonymous identifier, for synchronisation while the same anonymous account remains available. There is no sign-in method to recover a lost anonymous account, so profile and progress recovery after reinstalling the App or changing devices is not guaranteed. Active subscriptions can be restored separately through Apple.
B. Conversations with the AI Tutor
- Purpose: The messages you type or speak in conversations and roleplays are sent to the Google Gemini API to generate the tutor's replies, grammar corrections, translations and explanations.
- Processing: After your explicit consent, messages are sent over encrypted connections through our authenticated Firebase server to Google Gemini. We also provide your selected app language, learning level, learning goal and conversation scenario to adapt the response. We do not attach your profile display name or contact details. However, personal information you include in a message is part of the text sent to these services. Do not include sensitive information.
- Storage: Your chat history is stored only on your device. Our AI proxy does not store or log message content. To limit misuse, it stores hashed account and IP quota counters with a 48-hour expiry; automatic removal is subject to the configured database expiry policy. The corrections you receive (your original sentence, the corrected sentence and a short explanation) are saved on your device and in Cloud Firestore under your anonymous identifier so you can review them and practise with flashcards.
Please do not include sensitive personal information (such as health, financial or identity details) in your messages.
C. Microphone and Speech Recognition
- Purpose: If you choose to use voice practice, the App asks for access to your microphone and to speech recognition so it can turn your spoken Spanish into text.
- Processing: Speech is converted to text by Apple's speech recognition service. Depending on your device and settings, Apple may process the audio on your device or on Apple's servers, in accordance with Apple's privacy policy.
- Storage: We do not record, upload or store your voice. Only the resulting text is used, as described in section B.
You can turn off microphone and speech recognition access at any time in your device's Settings. The rest of the App will continue to work with typed messages.
D. Purchases and Subscriptions
- Purpose: To unlock Premium features and verify your subscription.
- Processing: Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases and manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives transaction information (such as product identifiers, purchase dates, subscription status and your anonymous identifier).
- We never receive or store your payment card or bank details.
E. Analytics, Diagnostics and Configuration
- Purpose: To understand how the App is used, fix crashes and improve performance.
- Processing: We use Firebase Analytics (usage events such as screens viewed and features used), Firebase Crashlytics (crash reports and device information such as model and operating system version) and Firebase Remote Config (to deliver App settings).
- These services process installation identifiers, usage events and diagnostic information. Records may be linked to a device or pseudonymous identifier and are not necessarily anonymous. Analytics may derive approximate location from your connection IP address; the App does not request GPS location. Advertising personalization and Analytics collection of the Apple identifier for vendor are disabled in the App configuration.
3. What We Do Not Do
- We do not show advertising in the App.
- We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We do not sell or rent your information.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
We use the following trusted providers to operate the App. They process data on our behalf in accordance with their own privacy policies:
- Apple Inc. – App distribution, in-app purchases and speech recognition. Apple Privacy Policy

5. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your profile and saved corrections for as long as you use the App.
You can delete your data at any time from within the App: go to Profile → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your profile and saved corrections from Cloud Firestore, removes your anonymous Firebase account and clears the data stored on your device. Deleting your data does not cancel an active subscription; subscriptions are managed in your Apple ID settings (see our Terms of Use).
Analytics and crash data are retained by Google according to Firebase's retention settings. Purchase records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat as required for billing and legal purposes.
6. Data Security
All data is transmitted using encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Cloud data is protected by Firebase security rules so that each anonymous user can access only their own data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we use industry-standard measures to protect your information.
7. International Transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, these transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards offered by the providers.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or Turkey's KVKK), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, or to object to or restrict its processing. You can delete your data directly in the App as described above, or contact us using the details below.
9. Children's Privacy
The AI features are intended only for adults aged 18 or older, in accordance with the Gemini API service terms. Do not use AI features if you are under 18. We do not knowingly seek personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last Updated" date. Please review it periodically.
11. Website Hosting
These policy and support pages are hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may process technical visitor data under the GitHub Privacy Statement.
